RELAX & UNWIND…ARTS, FOOD, MUSIC & CULTURE

When you stay at Wayside, you can make the short journey to Welshpool for The Welsh Food Festival  in September, this is proud to be not for profit, held in the beautiful grounds of Glansevern Hall.  Packed with a range of interesting things to do and see, including bee keeping, pizza making – with authentic cob ovens and intriguingly Shropshire Master Composters! .

The Abergavenny Food Festival – September
Abergavenny is the place to be if you love food, at any time you can visit some great restaurants and local produce shops but the food festival gives you an opportunity to sample lots of local delights combined with a great programme of events. It is a massive event! It is held in six venues with over 200 stalls.  Enjoy the hubbub and sights of this festival, then retreat to the wonderfully peaceful haven of a luxurious Sheepskin cottage.

The Exmoor Food Festival – October
The Exmoor Food Festival provides a showcase for local produce from a variety of independent food and drink producers based in the scenic Exmoor area.  With the popularity of our luxurious house Shell House.

October, sees the Anglesey Oyster and Welsh Produce festival , showcasing the unique Menai Oysters, but  they also have producers of Welsh cheese, ice cream, wine, cakes and there’s even a black tie Gala Dinner, with a sausage competition on the Sunday morning! Stay at Rhoscolyn House and enjoy the sea from your own garden!

Llangollen Food Festival takes place in October and has over 100 exhibitors, and includes a Childrens Food Festival and Beer Festival, so something for all the family to enjoy for the weekend!  Hilltop, Tailor’s Cottage and Wayside are just under an hour away.

REJUVINATE…MUSIC FESTIVALS

Y Not Festival – August

The Y Not festival, near Matlock in the Peak District, is recognised by the Guardian newspaper as one of the friendliest, best-value, small festivals, this event makes a fun long weekend out. Robin Hood is nearest.

Green Man Music Festival – August
With a consistently good line up Green Man festival will keep you busy all night. There is camping in the grounds but why not stay in luxury at one of our nearby properties.

Watchet LIVE returns for its fifth year as West Somerset’s largest outdoor music event with amazing views of the stunning West Somerset coast line and beyond. Watchet LIVE is a family friendly festival so why not stay with your family in style at Shell House just 15 miles away.

The Hay Festival May – June
Hay-on-Wye has established itself as Britain’s ‘town of books’ so it is the ideal setting for a literary festival that now has an international reputation. The festival attracts leading writers and poets as well as plenty of celebrities. During the festival around 100,000 visitors will enjoy literature in all its forms and lots of music too.

A great opportunity to indulge your tastes, including reading, debate, comedy, literature, food and music. To ensure you do not miss out on this international event, book your accommodation now at one of our nearby luxury cottages.

The Exmoor Explorer Mountain Bike Marathon – August
This is not a race, it is a long distance off road reliability trial across Exmoor’s challenging terrain which takes place on the 1st Sunday of August every year. The start, finish and tea/cakes and flapjack stop change every year as does the set of routes. A challenge of pure endurance, and we’re not just talking about cake intake!  You will fully deserve to be revived in the luxury and indulgence of Shell House if you take on this challenge.
